Let’s connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the IT Platform team at our headquarters in Hanover / Germany, join us on a permanent basis, commencing at the earliest possible date as an IT Systems Engineer Linux. 

You can look forward to

  • Installation, maintenance and support of the Hannover Re Group’s Linux server infrastructure (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Monitoring and optimisation of environments (e.g. Zabbix, Red Hat Satellite) and development of cookbooks for automation with version control (e.g. Chef Automate, git, Gerrit, Jenkins)
  • Automated hardening of servers based on current security standards (e.g. CIS benchmarks) and security monitoring (e.g. QualysGuard)
  • Close collaboration with other teams to further develop the virtual Linux infrastructure architecture (e.g. cloud teams for Azure and Amazon, architects, network and security)
  • Incident, problem and change management: processing enquiries and fault reports and documenting them in the ticket system

You come equipped with

  • Several years of professional experience with the administration of complex Linux server environments in virtualised environments
  • Degree in (business) informatics or comparable training with professional experience
  • Knowledge in the areas of automation (e.g. Chef Automate, Ansible, Puppet) and scripting (e.g. Bash, Ruby)
  • Basic knowledge of VMware virtualisation and cloud infrastructures, as well as server security and hardening
  • German and English at a business fluent level
  • Strong analytical skills and creativity in finding solutions, as well as organisational and coordination skills with a structured and transparent way of working
